Mary Ann Jankowski participating in art trail

The North Shore Arts Alliance announces that the 11th annual Chautauqua-Lake Erie Art Trail Open Studio and Gallery Tour will take place over Memorial Day Weekend, May 25-26. One of the artists participating in this year’s art trail is Buffalo native Mary Ann Jankowski.

“Nature is my inspiration especially scenes and beautiful flowers. I’ve always loved coloring, sketching and painting, but took my first art class in my 50s. I was hooked! I don’t consider myself to have a style but would say my tendency is to realism in all mediums — watercolors, pastels and acrylics. I’m constantly striving to be more ‘painterly’ and ‘think abstract’. These were terms used by Margaret M. Martin, AWS, whose works were vibrant with color. I took many watercolors workshops with her before she died. Her spirit and words are still with me when I compose and paint,” she said. “My current watercolors are of lilacs. I’m having a ‘blues’ mood and enjoying the gamut of the spectrum. I have just completed ‘Lilacs for Beth’ and ‘Moody Blues’ is a work in progress.”

Her work will be on display at 10 Beach Place, Fredonia. For more information and a list of all the artists participating, visit http://www.northshoreartsalliance.com.
